A heatwave in South Asia forced more than 7,000 public schools in the Philippines to send their students home for online classes. In an interview with As It Happens host Nil Köksal, Ruby Bernardo, a Filipino language teacher, describes dealing with poorly equipped classrooms, and explains how students from low-income families are more susceptible to education loss when schools shut down.
